CEO

Crim Fitness Foundation

Lauren Holaly-Zembo was appointed Crim Fitness Foundation CEO on Sept. 1, 2020. Her work at the foundation since 2008 has included relaunching the historic community education model – originally created by Charles Stewart Mott and Frank Manley in 1935 and still supported today by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation – as an agile, networked system of supports for students and families in all 13 Flint Community Schools and several other Genesee County schools.

Holaly-Zembo has also led the Crim’s efforts to create healthy communities through policy, systems and environmental changes. Her experience in group facilitation and building collaborative engagement has influenced sustainable positive change in policies impacting everything from nonmotorized transportation, parks and recreation, and safe routes to school to health, community engagement and planning initiatives.

She is a Flint and Genesee County service champion, dedicated to supporting a culture of service through an increase in AmeriCorps and volunteerism. She is also a mindfulness ambassador, having completed training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Program, working to bring mindfulness into the culture of the Crim organization and our community. She serves on many community advisory boards including, the Flint Promise Authority, Flint Community Education Partner Collaborative and Flint ReCAST.

Holaly-Zembo holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan with a focus on community organizing. In her spare time, she enjoys running, snowmobiling, traveling and spending time with her husband, Cody, daughters Quinn, 6, and Rozlyn, 4, and her extended family.
