As vice president of Skaff Furniture Carpet One, Jeff Skaff is the fourth generation to help lead the 111-year-old family business. He joined the business three years ago and has been instrumental in streamlining the organization with the advent of new technology and the construction of a new 30,000-square-foot warehouse. His leadership for the Skaff team has centered on creating stressless experiences for clients. He became active in Carpet One, a national cooperative of floor covering retailers, and was selected to serve as a member of the Nex40 Council, the leadership for a group of nearly 200 young flooring professionals. Nex40 serves to create a network for young professionals and to provide mentorship for the next generation of retailers entering business.
He has also been responsible for expanding Skaff’s annual community outreach initiatives, building on the success of programs that raise money and awareness for local charity partners. New awards like the “Favorite Teacher” and “Health Care Hero” contests spotlighted front-line workers in these fields. Continuing the successful outreach campaigns like “Save and Share,” “YWCA Safe House Saturday,” among others, he added the Crim Festival of Races, for which the company sponsored registration for Flint residents, raised awareness with marketing and hosted an event in its showroom. In addition, he initiated a program with the Greater Flint Arts Council to feature the creations of local artists in the Skaff showroom, showcasing paintings, ceramics and sculptures.
