President/CEO
Communities First Inc.
Glenn Wilson’s leadership was instrumental to Communities First Inc.’s (CFI) successful multipronged response to the global pandemic. Under Wilson, CFI continued to offer critical community economic development initiatives while experiencing unprecedented growth and exceeding revenue expectations.
Despite new barriers, Wilson remained committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities to low-to-moderate-income families. With attention to health and safety, he propelled CFI’s work by adding several properties to the development pipeline and preserving existing affordable housing stock.
In addition, CFI has seen rapid growth. Fiscally, CFI secured additional grant funds to end the year strong. This benchmark will allow CFI to significantly expand its economic development work and address greater community need across Michigan. Wilson was instrumental in this achievement through his identification of mutual corporate relationships, his commitment to dynamic community partnerships, his personable approach to donor cultivation and his attention to informative grant writing. In addition to guiding the financial strategy of the organization, Wilson volunteered his professional expertise in entrepreneurship and business development on behalf of CFI to more than two dozen companies and nonprofits to advise them during the pandemic.
Wilson also has served on a number of key boards, including chair of the Community Development Association of Michigan. He currently serves on the Michigan Housing Council board of directors, Michigan Housing Council Finance and Development Committee, Mott Children’s Health Center Facilities and Grounds Committee, Mass Transportation Authority board and Hurley Foundation board, among others.
