Miller Industries has been experiencing notable growth in recent years – enough that the Fenton-based company is actively expanding its workforce to keep up with demand.

That’s no small task, but the manufacturer isn’t doing it alone. In fact, Miller has been working with Flint & Genesee Education & Talent since the division first introduced the company to a potential hire – the spouse of someone relocating to the area – who was quickly brought on board. After that, they officially signed on as a partner employer of Make Your Move, a talent attraction initiative that Education & Talent launched in 2021.

“Many people know Make Your Move as a campaign designed to help prospective residents explore what it’s like to live and work in Genesee County,” said Brianna Mosier, executive director of Education & Talent, a division of the Flint & Genesee Group. “But it’s also a powerful recruiting tool for companies.”

As one of 21 partner employers in the program, Miller Industries has access to the Make Your Move toolkit and marketing materials. And, as of March 2025, it’s included in a new job listings board that automatically pulls from the company’s careers page. (Located at jobs.flintandgenesee.org, this is also a benefit for Flint & Genesee Chamber members – corporate level and up.)

Beyond those baseline supports, the Education & Talent division can work with employers in various ways tailored to their specific needs – from offering customized, on-site trainings to providing community tours for employees who are new to the area.

For Miller Industries, partnering with Education & Talent has been particularly helpful during this period of growth for the company.

“We’re moving really fast and only have so much bandwidth,” said Megan Battaglia, spokesperson for the company. “We don’t have the same resources as a big corporation at this point. What Education & Talent offers builds upon what we do have and helps amplify our efforts.”

In addition to Make Your Move, this includes Flinterns, which offers the company’s six interns exposure to the broader community, a continuing education series, and multiple networking opportunities. There’s also Summer Youth Initiative, which has allowed the Miller’s co-op program to hire four high school students – who have completed the TeenQuest pre-employment program – at half the usual cost.

“Miller is a great example of an employer that has really leaned into our programming and benefited from it,” said Mosier. “And they’re not the only ones. We work with many employers in a variety of ways to meet their talent needs – and we’d love to work with more.”

Employers interested in exploring the division’s catalog of programs, which include several more beyond those highlighted here, can get started by emailing Mosier at bmosier@flintandgenesee.org. From there, she will assess your company’s needs and determine who to connect you with on the team.
