The start of a new year is a great time to reflect on past successes and look ahead to what’s next. For the Flint & Genesee Group, it’s also a time to consider upcoming opportunities for team growth and development.

Flint & Genesee Group CEO Tim Herman

At the close of 2024, the Flint & Genesee Group was proud to once again be recognized as a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press. This designation was based solely on employee engagement feedback collected by a third-party survey – feedback that has helped us gauge our workplace culture, which is an important area of focus for the organization.

We’re honored that our employees feel supported and valued. We know that strong workplace environments are critical for retention and strengthening the broader community. The data we get from the Top Workplaces survey motivates us to keep improving and working toward that goal every day.

In this effort, the training available through Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, a division of the Group, combined with the expertise of our executive director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Community Relations, has been an incredible resource for us. And with new offerings available in the year ahead, there are brand-new ways for all Flint & Genesee businesses to develop their teams and workplace culture.

As an example, the new DEI Champion certificate program will provide an in-depth look at the fundamentals of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion as a strategy to improve retention, creativity, and performance. Completion of the three-part series will earn participants a DEI Champion badge that can be used in email signatures and on websites.

Other workshops offered in the first quarter of the year will dive into topics like the future of hiring, emotional intelligence, and unlocking the potential of AI. The Mini Leadership Series will help professionals navigate the transition from peer to supervisor and how to build a cohesive team.

No matter your goal, for individuals or an entire organization, investing in professional development can make all the difference when it comes to healthy and sustainable growth.
