The Community Foundation of Greater Flint has promoted Kelli Glomski to director of Finance. Glomski has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and previously served as a senior accountant for the organization.
Cumulus Flint has promoted Nikki Koliopoulos from senior account manager to sales manager.
Ella McAndrew, director of presenting programs at FIM Whiting Auditorium, is the new president of the Michigan Presenters Network. This is a statewide coalition of organizations, artists, managers, agents, and others committed to advancing and presenting the performing arts. The group works to nurture organizational leadership, professional development, and knowledge exchange among performing arts professionals.
Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, a division of the Flint & Genesee Group, has welcomed three new TeenQuest facilitators to its team. This includes Percivierre Whitmore; Miranda Bex, who previously served as the association membership director at the YMCA; and Juliet Ocon, a former behavioral technician with Blue Lakes Autism.
The Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games have been inducted into the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame. This marks the first time an organization/non-athlete has been inducted into the program. The 2024 class brings the total membership in the Hall to 318 individuals and 89 teams since the Hall welcomed its first class in 1980.
Hurley Medical Center and the Hurley Board of Managers have welcomed Maryum Rasool, CEO of the Sylvester Broom Empowerment Village, as their newest board member. The board also elected its new officers: Philip Shaltz as board chair, Corinne Edwards as vice chair, Marsha Strozier-Weley as treasurer, and Christopher Flores as secretary. Additionally, Lisa Szukhent has become the Hurley Foundation’s director of events and sponsorships. She was most recently an on-air talent for Cars 108.
The Detroit Free Press has recognized several Flint & Genesee businesses among its 2024 Top Workplaces. This includes ELGA Credit Union, Goyette Mechanical Co., Flint & Genesee Group, and Rolls Mechanical. This recognition was based on anonymous employee feedback received via a third-party survey regarding workplace culture.
The Genesee District Library has named Symantha Foreman as the new librarian for the Beecher-Vera B. Rison Library. Foreman previously worked as a page at the Burton Memorial Library and as a circulation assistant at the C.S. Mott Library.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced the appointment of multiple Flint & Genesee professionals to various boards and commissions. Ja’Nel Jamerson, president of the Flint Center for Educational Excellence and director of the Ruth Mott Foundation, was reappointed to the Early Childhood Investment Corporation for a term expiring July 22, 2028. Terae King, Jr., a field operations consultant with McDonald’s Corporation and trustee on the Flint Community Schools Board of Education, was appointed to the State Teacher Tenure Commission for a term expiring Aug. 31, 2029. Dr. Steve Tunnicliff, superintendent of Genesee Intermediate School District was appointed to the Early Childhood Investment Corporation for a term expiring July 22, 2025.
The Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Flint has introduced Melissa Whitcomb as its new general manager. She has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having previously worked with Marriott, Sonesta, and Hilton.
Board-certified medical oncologist Dr. Vatsala Katragadda has joined the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Flint. Katragadda graduated from Guntur Medical College in India and completed her internal medicine residency at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn.
The McLaren Proton Therapy Center welcomed radiation oncologist Dr. Hani Al Halabi to their team. He completed his radiation oncology residency at McGill University before advancing to Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard School of Medicine in Boston, where he pursued a fellowship in proton therapy.
Dr. Aisha Harris has been named assistant director of the Leadership for Medicine and the Underserved at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Harris is the owner and primary care physician of Harris Family Health
David Perry is now a media sales account executive for Spectrum Reach. Perry previously worked at 3Sixty Interactive. In his new role, he handles cable, streaming (OTT), and digital marketing strategies for clients in Flint and surrounding communities.
Uptown Reinvestment Corporation has hired Kamisha Webster as its new property leasing specialist.

Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties has broken ground on a $5 million development for Sacred Heart Veteran Village, which will offer unhoused veterans transitional housing and support services in the region.
Allegiant Airlines has added two new routes at Flint Bishop Airport. Beginning in May, Allegiant will offer flights from Flint to Newark, New Jersey, and from Flint to Portland, Oregon.
Six small businesses were awarded $30,000 in prizes at the Two-Lane Fast Pitch Competition, hosted by the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance Small Business Support Hub and sponsored by The State Bank. Finalists competed in one of two tracks during the Nov. 14 event. In the startup track, for businesses that had been open for less than a year, Agape Home Care Services won first place ($5,000), Casa Amigos won second ($3,000), and AT4 won third ($2,000). In the micro-business track, for businesses open for more than a year and with 10 or fewer full-time employees, I Love Pig won first place ($10,000), Elle Jae Essentials won second ($6,000), and TDH Consulting won third ($4,000).
The Flint River Watershed Coalition is now a program of the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission.
“This merger not only strengthens our ability to protect and enhance the Flint River but also expands our capacity to engage residents and visitors with high-quality educational and recreational programs,” said Patrick Linihan, director of Genesee County Parks. “Together, we can continue to make a lasting impact on our environment and ensure a healthier, more vibrant future for Genesee County,”
Miller Industries has launched two new apprenticeship programs approved by the United States Department of Labor. These programs provide rigorous training for aspiring electricians and welder-fitters.

The university received five top-25 rankings in categories including best online master’s in liberal arts degree programs (13th), best online respiratory therapy degree programs (13th), best master’s in liberal arts degree programs (15th), best online master’s in education degree programs (no GRE) (17th), and most affordable online bachelor’s in early childhood education programs (22nd).
