Managing Editor
East Village Magazine
Katharine Stockrahm is an audio and digital journalist committed to covering critical news stories relevant to the Flint community.
After earning a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, Stockrahm moved to Flint as a corps member for Report for America, a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities. In her years at Flint Beat as a reporter and associate editor, she focused on Flint issues ranging from economic development to local government. Her work led to multiple awards from the Michigan Press Association including six awards in 2023 for her work covering the Flint community.
Since February, Stockrahm has served as managing editor at East Village Magazine, a longtime Flint publication covering local politics, arts and culture, and education. Her role includes reviewing pitches and editing all submitted stories, leading the production of the magazine’s monthly print publication and online content, training a coalition of community journalists, and communicating critical issues to the community at large.
As a volunteer, she supports animal welfare at both the Humane Society of Genesee County and Adopt-A-Pet in Fenton. She also serves as secretary for Flint Neighborhoods United.
Stockrahm earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Honors Program. Before moving to Flint three years ago, she worked for nearly a decade in Washington, D.C. in event management and helped establish one of the city’s first woman-owned distilleries.
