CEO
Spud Software

Mason Sommer is a visionary who runs things by the data.

After working at Spud Software in Grand Blanc for nearly a decade, Sommer took over as CEO with a plan. Now four years later, he has restructured the 26-year-old business management software firm, improved quality, updated the onboarding process for new hires, and reduced development time – resulting in the company’s best year in four years.

Sommer will be the first to say that running a successful business isn’t easy. But with the help of a strong team working toward the same goals, great things are possible. He believes in keeping his team happy, informed, and feeling like they are part of something bigger than themselves. When he went through the year-long Crestcom International leadership development program, he encouraged several of his team members to join him.

Sommer is very involved in the community. He is a member of the Flint & Genesee Chamber and often partners with Grand Blanc High School, encouraging students with an interest in technology to tour his business and learn about careers in the industry. Additionally, he often donates to Lucky Day Animal Rescue and allows the local nonprofit, run by his family, to use the business’ office space for events.
