Athletic Director
Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village
For two decades, Tim Jones has dedicated himself to his two biggest passions: athletics and helping kids.
Throughout his career, Jones has traveled across the nation and world to strengthen his leadership skills on the athletic field. In Genesee County, he served as athletic director for the Linden Charter Academy, also supporting the team at Powers Catholic High School and his own AAU team. Now as athletic director for Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village in Flint, he is once again supporting young people. Sylvester Broome offers free, year-round programming in academics, athletics and the arts to youth ages 5-17.
As athletic director, Jones focuses on health and wellness using athletics as a gateway to make meaningful connections with those who need mentorship the most. He shares his energy and authentic support to help students succeed and grow. His program incorporates socioemotional elements that prepare young people for athletics – and life.
Jones works closely with area schools such as Flint Community Schools to ensure as many young people as possible are connected to available programming at Sylvester Broome. He has also partnered with the Jr. Pistons and Coco5 so local kids can experience outings and resources provided by those partners.
In addition to his athletic career, Jones organizes large-scale entertainment events and serves as director of operations for The Antidote Fest, one of Flint’s premier hip-hop festivals. His vision, strong organizational skills, and extensive industry connections, have been instrumental in elevating the festival’s profile, drawing top talent, and ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees.
