Operations Manager/Operations Director
Flint Downtown Development Authority
Thanks to her “let’s get it done” attitude, Brandy Curtis is making positive changes in Flint.
Appointed in 2023 as operations director of the Flint Downtown Development Authority, Curtis has worked to expand communications between downtown businesses and the City of Flint by restarting the Downtown Small Business Association. The group meets monthly to discuss the needs and concerns of the business community.
Curtis is also working to improve the downtown district in other ways. She’s focused her efforts to address downtown parking challenges with the upcoming installation of a new parking system. She’s formed a strong partnership with the Flint Police Department, joining forces to make downtown a safer place to live, work, and play. She also works with event planners, helping them easily navigate permits, street closures, and logistics so visitors to Flint can easily enjoy all the city offers.
Under her leadership, Flint’s downtown streets are once again clean and beautiful. She played an integral role in a two-year project to replace the historic bricks in the downtown area from Court Street to the Flint River and worked to ensure the reconstruction didn’t disrupt the city’s major August events, which drive significant tourism and traffic to downtown. It was the first time in over a century that the bricks were replaced. Saginaw Street reopened in late July.
